Great Wolf Lodge

My fabulous mother in law spoiled us rotten and treated us to a night at the Great Wolf Lodge last September.  This place is amazing and we all had so much fun.  We brought our underwater camera and the kids loved playing with it.  The first day, Joshua wasn't tall enough (by .25 inch) to go on the big watersides, so he played with Dave and Austin while Audrey and I went down the big slides.

The next day we taught Joshua how to stand up really tall so he would be tall enough.  It worked! Climbing all the stairs to go down the big slides.

He wasn't sure how he felt at first,

but ended up loving it.  He went down time after time.

We had such a great time!!! Thank you Memor!

Fishing

While we were living with Chris & Megan, we took the kids fishing on Labor Day. It was fun. For the first 10 minutes. Each kid caught a fish, and after awhile Megan and I (and the kids) had had enough fun and wanted to leave. Dave and Chris however, thought they were in heaven and did not want to go. Megan and I ended up taking the kids on a walk around the lake while our husbands got their fill of fishing.

After fishing, we went and got lunch on the lake, came "home" (all to their house) relaxed and then had dinner.   Fun day.

Last Texas Summer

I have so much blog catching up to do, it's ridicules. Here we go.

Our last Texas summer was a hot one. I am going to just copy and paste this little tidbit from Adrienne's blog, thanks friend:
ALMOST a Record

If you ever watch the news you will have seen that Dallas has had a CARZY HOT summer.  We were 2 days away from breaking the record for the most consecutive 100+ days in a row EVER ON RECORD.  We had 40 straight days of temps at or above 100.  We only got to 97 yesterday so we did not brake the record, we will have to accept 2nd place for the most 100 days in a row.  But can you believe 40 STRAIGHT days of temps over 100?  Most were above 105 and we even got to 110!  CRAZY!  We have managed to keep cool.  We swim alot and have found a bunch of indoor activities.  

We swam.  A lot.

Before school got out, Mandy and I took our boys to the splash park one last time while they were "top dog".

We also took them to Target, where they wanted to try on some new clothes.

We went with Chris & Megan, Leah & Zeb, Mandy & Colby, and Tyler & Adrienne to Joe Pool Lake.  Thanks for the pictures Adrienne.  I stole them off your blog too.

Megan and I had so much fun at our weekly dance class.

We went to the $.50 movies.  Thank goodness for the cool indoors!

Our sweet friends threw Leah and me a birthday party at the pool.  I love Austin in this picture.  And I look like I am balding.  Oh wait. All my hair had fallen out post baby, and I was bald.  Oh the joys. (All of my Texas friends are fired for not telling me how bad it really was.)

We had watermelon sundaes.  Instead of ice cream, it was scoops of watermelon.  Delicious.

Notice the bruise on Joshua's forehead? Dave was wiping his little bum after Joshua went the restroom, and Joshua was leaning forward holding onto Dave's shorts.  Dave had lost some weight and his shorts were big so Joshua grabbed onto the shorts but fell forward, smacking his head on the bathroom floor, and took Dave's pants down with him.  It was pretty funny.

That was our summer in a nut shell.  Lots of swimming, sweating, and friends.

11 Months

Austin is 11 (and a half) months. This boy is full of life and energy. Audrey and Joshua absolutely adore him, well we all do. A couple of days ago Austin was crying and Audrey said, "Oh mom. Just look at his face when he cries! It is the cutest thing I have ever seen!" At least 4 times a week I hear her say, "Mom, why is Austin so cute?! I can't even stand it!" Now she finally can begin to understand the depth at which we love her, and her brothers.

At 11 months, Austie:
doesn't want to sit still, which made taking these pictures difficult.

Has very delicious thighs,

prefers to stand.  He crawls and then pulls himself to standing on whatever he can.  He has let go and balanced by himself only once.

is currently teething, meaning lots of drool and whining.

But is still such a happy baby.

He:
*still has 8 teeth but more are coming
*loves food.  He is over baby food and wants the real stuff.  He will still eat the baby food that has texture in it though, like the pasta ones. He nurses and then eats real oatmeal or a waffle with some fruit for breakfast, 11 oz bottle and half a bottle of baby food for lunch, 8 oz bottle for dinner and whatever we are having, and then nurses again before bed
*can do sign language for "more"
*rocks his little body whenever he hears music
*loves to throw balls and play with cars.  His latest trick is making a grumbling noise like a car while playing with a car
*loves sucking on a toothbrush, especially mine
*loves to play in the toilet resulting in lots of antibacterial baths
*takes two naps a day
*his favorite food is probably a gogurt.  He loves to eat it, and make a big mess for his mom to clean.

I could kiss his face all day.

Goodbye Party

Our fabulous friends threw us a going away party on September 22. Love, love, love these people. Thanks for the memories, y'all.

Homeless

Our landlord in Texas decided to make us move out one month before we were supposed to move out of the state. She wanted to re-rent it during peak rental season, so our move out date was Sept 2nd, and we were moving on October 1st. I was beyond livid when I found out about this. But it turned out to be such a blessing. Our fabulous friends took us in, and we rotated houses and really enjoyed being able to spend some quality time with our friends before we left.  So for the month of September we hopped around and lived with these amazing families.  We will be forever grateful to them, and for allowing my little family to be together during Dave's last month of residency. We had talked about the kids and I going to California for the month, but Dave had worked so hard his whole residency to get all his requirements done so he could finally spend some time with us during his last few weeks.  It was his easiest month of his whole residency, and we were so grateful that we got to spend it together, and with these incredible people.

First stop: Chris & Megan's
We ended up staying here the longest. They have an extra guest room plus a large playroom for our kids to sleep in. Our kids are the same ages and they thought they were in heaven. Sleepovers on school nights!!!! We thought putting them to bed was going to be way more challenging than it actually was, which made us stay longer than we originally planned (plus, they are family, sorry suckers! ha!). We had a great time staying up late, watching TV and movies, cooking dinners, working out, and not having to wake up napping babies to pick up kids from school because one of us would stay and the other would go pick up. We loved spending this time with Chris & Megan and it was fun to spend Megan's birthday with them.  This is one great family.

Jeremy & Genevieve's
They were so kind to take us in. They have a beautiful home and we had so much fun staying there. Genevieve is super woman and a whizz on the sewing machine, and we had fun making two skirts for me and one for Audrey. There is such a goodness about this family, and we loved being there.

Ali & Brian's

As if this beautiful lady doesn't have enough going on in her life.  She is the mother to these super cute twin boys. Ali & Brian opened their home to us and we jumped right in.  Joshua loved having so many little boys around and Austin loooooved all the new baby toys.   We loved watching the BYU game with them and watching Brian do his happy dance.   This little family moved in just a few months before we left but will forever have a special place in my heart.  Genuinely really, really good people.  

Colby & Mandy's
The kids and I stayed there while Dave was out of town.  So in true fashion, we sister wived it up. :) Poor Colby.   Late nights, curling our little girl's hair (and our own) and good conversations.  And some crazy ones too.  When I get too tired I don't make any sense, and Mandy is the same way.  Lots of fun times. And lots of peanut M&Ms.  Like a Costco sized bag.

Zeb & Leah's

They introduced us to oatmeal for breakfast and I introduced them to Fage greek yogurt.  Win/win situation.  I went to Leah's boot camp class that she teaches (at 5:30 AM!!!) and was sore for days.  Leah is the most selfless, most service oriented person I know, and it was fun to spend a few days watching her in all her glory.  This lady never.stops. I had to remind her to eat.  We had so much fun going to Hobby Lobby, having a girls night, and just being together.  I am so glad that Joshua wants to marry Claire (the 9 year old) so Leah will always be in my life! :)
