Baby Reksa, Cambodian orphanage

Picture used with permission from Kristin.

Last night I was doing a blog hop, and I came upon this blog. The second I saw this picture, tears came to my eyes. To think about all these sweet babies in these cribs is almost more than my heart can take. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this baby, named Reksa, somewhere in an orphanage in Cambodia. So sweet Reksa, and all the other babies like you, if I could I would hold you, cuddle you and rock you. I would put some comfy clothes on your sweet little body and wipe the sweat off your face. I would put you in a bed with a soft mattress and a blanket for you to snuggle. I would sing you songs about sweet dreams and a Heavenly Father who knows you and who loves you very much. If I could, oh, I would.

Today I feel so, so blessed. Blessed to have a family that calls me theirs, and I call mine. Blessed to be able to give my own children the comforts of live, with the simplest being a soft place to sleep. It opened my eyes and reminded me what a blessing and a privilege it is to be a mother, and to have a mother.

And so today I sat. I sat with Audrey while she colored and watched her with tears in my eyes. I laid on the floor with Joshua while he drove his trucks on my arm. I snuggled my two babies more than usual and took the time to tell them how much I love them because there are kids out there who don't get to hear that everyday.  I feel truly blessed to be able to tell mine how much they mean to me.  Reksa, you inspire me to be better.  Kristin, thank you for the powerful picture.
