Happy Birthday Dave

Happy Birthday honey. The big 3-4. It was a fun day of walking on Chestnut St, naps and then to PF Changs for dinner. The last time Dave went to PF Changs was our college graduation in 2003! How has he lived that long without the chicken wraps and Mongolian beef? Happy Birthday to my better half, the love of my life, and my best friend.

Happy Father's Day

I know this post is a bit late, but I wanted to say thank you to the Fathers who have had such an influence on my life, and the life of my children.

Happy Father's Day, honey. You are such an amazing dad to our sweet kids and they are so lucky to have you, as am I.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. Thank you for being so patient with your five daughters and one son. Thank you for insisting that we eat dinner together as a family every night. You are amazing.

Happy Father's Day, Bruce. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son for me to marry. You are an incredible man.

Two down, one to go...

Only one year left of school. It makes my heart ache to think of how different my life will be one year from right now.

My little lady

While we were at my parent's home celebrating Andrew's homecoming, Melissa gave Audrey her first "real" haircut. It makes my heart a little sad at how quickly my baby girl is growing up.

Melissa said all the prior haircuts were just little trims, but this was more of a "style cut". Stay little forever Audrey! I can't take this.

Audrey's reward for staying still during the entire haircut (and blow dry) was that she could put D's makeup on herself, all by herself. Here is my foxy little lady. I think I will have her wear her makeup like this even when she is 16, that way she will only have dates with her daddy.

Mango madness

Welcome Home

My one and only brother returned home from his mission in Philadelphia last week. We are so proud of him for serving so faithfully. Welcome home little brother, we have missed you.

Waiting for the big moment.

Yay! Here he is!

Reunited

(first time meeting Savy)

Audrey wouldn't let Uncle Andrew go. She had her eyes closed just laying on his chest for at least 30 seconds. My sister said, "Well this is the most calm Audrey has been in the last two years". True, true, true.

Andrew meeting his one and only nephew.

This is how Andrew remembered Audrey (10 months old). My how things have changed...

Found

On Friday, May 30th during his morning nap, little Dane found this device to help him sleep better. His mama is a very happy lady. Here's to not having to get up at 3:00 am just to find a binki...
I figure since he is flesh of my flesh and bone of my bones he will need braces anyway.

Grandpa's Funeral

On May 30th, Dave, Dane and I flew to Idaho for Grandpa's funeral (thank you Mom for watching Audrey). It was Dane's first time flying so of course we had to document:

We told the pilots it was Dane's first flight and they were so excited. They let him sit in the pilot's seat, gave him some Southwest wings and even a certificate saying it was his first flight. Who knew there was such a hoopla about flying for the first time? (This picture is for Addi.) Dane was such a good boy on the flight. He just sucked on his little fists and slept the whole way.

The funeral service was very nice and since Grandpa served in the military, they had a military burial. They had the 21 gun salute and then played Taps. It was a really neat experience. Grandpa will be greatly missed.

Grandpa Blayne

Dave's sweet Grandpa Blayne passed away on May 20th at the age of 89. He was such a sweet man. My first memory was when Dave and I were engaged and we drove up to Blackfoot, Idaho to so I could meet his Grandpa. It was over a Memorial Day weekend, which was very fitting because Grandpa served in the military and is very patriotic (he was drafted into the war in 1942 and discharged after the end of the war in 1945. He was a master sergeant in the Army and a member of the 2nd Armor Division called "Hell on Wheels"). We sat on his back porch, went to Sizzler and Chinese food with Grandpa's girlfriend, Bernice (Dave's grandma died 14 years ago). Then after we were married my in-laws and Grandpa came to visit us in Provo, and we went shopping at Nordstrom. I found a dress at BCBG that I loved, but money was very tight so I didn't even think about buying it. Guess what Grandpa gave me for Christmas that year? He was such a generous man with a raspy voice you could recognize anywhere. We will miss him and think of him often, every night actually, since he is the one who bought us our bed for our wedding gift.
