Conference Sunday

I love General Conference. It is one of the two times a year were cinnamon rolls are a guarantee, watching church in pajamas is acceptable, and when I feel completely uplifted by our church leaders, especially our Prophet. My favorite line of conference this year was when President Monson said, "My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith." When so much of the world is focused on the bad and the mean, I love how President Monson reminds us to be happy. It was hard not to be happy listening to him while eating one of the cinnamon rolls Audrey and Dave made.

In between sessions, we went to the "secret park". I am dying that Joshua is wearing big boy shoes. What happened to my baby?! Although he wears the shoes, he is still not walking. He prefers his mom to have a freakishly strong left arm from carrying him everywhere.

The next conference post will be from Dallas!

Best little

I constantly tell Audrey that she is my best little friend (her Dad is my best big friend, and Joshua is my best baby friend). It melted my heart when the other day we were driving down the road and out of the blue she says to me, "You are my best little mom".
It is times like this when being a mom is the best job in the world.

Golden Gate Park Day

Last Friday, Addi, Nadine and I took the kids to the Japanese Tea Gardens. This is my favorite time of year to go, the blossoms are so beautiful and it smells heavenly. This was Joshua's first time to the gardens, and although he was strapped in the stroller for most of the time, he loved it. The kids enjoyed the new tradition of making a penny souvenir (Addi, I need that picture).

Pointing at the fish, he loved watching them in the water.
P.S. I know Joshua is wearing the same shirt as the chair climbing pictures. These were all taken on the same day. Thanks to my sister in law, I promise I have more clothes than just one shirt for my boy.

After the garden, Addi and I walked across the street to the Academy of Sciences. Audrey never tires of that place, and I am so grateful Addi has a pass!

The albino crocodile is now there, and I don't know what I was expecting, but it was NOT this. It really, really grossed me out. I only took a picture so Dave could see how freaky it was, but here it is, on my blog. Isn't he gross looking? Yuck.

Joshua's new trick

Joshua's latest trick: the art of chair climbing

Uh, oh. Foot stuck.

Unstuck.

He did it! He is so proud of himself.

Audrey is one proud big sister, and I am one proud mom.

High five.

If you look closely at Joshua's forehead, there is a red bump from an unsucessful attempt at the chair climbing. Don't mind the Hello Kitty bandaid on his knee, he got a splinter at the park and nurse Audrey wanted to help.

I love these two.

Spring Break

Dave had his last official spring break from dental school last week. Seeing as he starts his endo residency 10 days after graduation, we knew we had to live it up. He finished finals on a Wednesday which actually left us 10 whole days of family time. For the first week, poor Joshua was so sick. Dave and I took turns being up all night with him and then sleeping in. It was heavenly having a husband around so I didn't feel guilty when he took the 2:00 am shift.
Dave and I left the following Thursday to fly to Florida so we could go on a cruise with some of our all time favorite people. The plane ride was heavenly...I read, I ate, and I did not have to pack one single gold fish. We got to Miami and tried to walk through the drive through at Taco Bell (it was midnight so the inside part was closed). They wouldn't let us walk through the drive-thru (WHAT!) so instead we went to McDonalds-they didn't seem to have a problem with it.
On Friday morning we met up with my cousin Jason, and his fabulous wife Kristina. We went over and got on the cruise ship and were eating a delicious lunch when we heard the news that Jenni and Jason's flight was delayed and they might not make it in time before the cruise ship left. Lots of quick prayers and nervous sweats later, Jason and Jenni were the very last people on the ship. One more minute and they would have been left behind. We were all too frazzled that night to take any pictures, so instead we just ate and then went to the comedy show.
On Saturday we were in Nassau, Bahamas. Here we are eating breakfast with the Atlantis Hotel behind us.

We spent all day at the Atlantis Hotel's water park. It was the best water park I have ever been to. They had a ride that was a free fall into this tube that took you through the middle of an aquarium. They had awesome tube rides too. They had double tubes so Dave and I could go together. They had one where it was pitch dark, really windy and fast and then you ended up in a tube going through the middle of the aquarium. There were sharks swimming all around us. Pretty amazing. The lazy river was incredible. It had three different parts with full on rapids and then at the end a little elevator to take you and your tube back to the top. I brought my water camera but haven't developed the film yet (I feel so archaic). I feel so bonded to Jessica Simpson having spent the day there. Good choice Jessica, too bad your marriage didn't last.

That night we went back to the ship and got ready for dinner. We sat and ate for almost three hours. Heav.en.ly.
On the way to dinner.

We then went to the fun newlywed game and then to the "White Hot" dance party. Everyone was supposed to wear white for a fun night at dancing, equipped with fake snow. We have serious dance skills. Jason would call out an occupation and we had to dance like that (for example: dentist, swimmer). We were probably the only ones not drinking on the ship, yet looked the most drunk.

The boys getting their grove on.

Girls turn.

Jason got hot and decided to rub his face on the ice statue to cool down. This guy seriously cracks. me. up.

Saturday night we decided to go eat all the calories we had just burned from "dancing" and had some fries, chicken wings and cheesecake. We stayed up until 2:00 am eating and hanging out.

Sunday morning we ate breakfast in the "sit down and order" room. I love, love, love ordering food. There is something about ordering what you want, having it come all prepared and then not having to do the dishes that seriously thrills me. We were at Norwegian's (the cruise ship line) private island that day. We took the tender to the beautiful little island and enjoyed a fun day at relaxing at the white sand beach. We rented a big inner tube and all six of us paddled out together and had a fun time laying out and talking.
On the tender out to the island.

Eating lunch on the island. I have a new appreciation for places like this after watching Lost.

That night we had another long, great dinner(surprise, surprise), went to a comedy show and then back to the french fry place until 2 am again. There is nothing like cheesy fries and hot chocolate at that hour of the morning.

Monday morning (after eating one last "sit down and order" breakfast) we had to roll ourselves off the ship. It was so sad to say goodbye to Jenni and Jason there. We headed to the airport with Jason and Kristina to hang out for about 5 hours before our flight left. Dave missed that day of school and my sweet mom brought Audrey and Joshua back to us on Tuesday morning. Thank you so much to both of our parents for watching our kids so we could have such a nice, relaxing trip. Thank you J&J, and J&K for such a perfect trip.

Back to School

Audrey did a Pottery Barn Kid's back to school shoot last week. She was representing the preschool aged kids. All the other kids were five or six years old and would crack "funny" jokes and Audrey couldn't figure out why they were funny (for example, calling someone 'underwear head'). Please Audrey, stay sweet and innocent forever.
I quickly took this picture before they could catch me. I'm on the sidelines watching. Dave was on spring break so he was able to stay home with Joshua. It was a fun afternoon and sitting and waiting, and sitting and waiting.

Taking a little break.

Audrey did such a great job. We went to Walgreens after so she could get her Tinkerbell makeup. She had seen it in there a couple days before while we were filling Joshua's prescription and really wanted it. I told her she couldn't have it at the time (she does not need any more "cosmetics") but since she is the breadwinner of the family, she deserves to splurge.

Hmmmm, maybe they will hire her someday to be the makeup artist. Then again, maybe not.

Sick boy

Little man,
I am so sorry you have an ear infection, are cutting a molar, and had to have three shots all at the same time. I do love how cuddly you are though. Get better soon. I love you.
