Pretty Boy

Audrey was playing dress up.
Joshua brought me this dress.
Harmless enough.
Isn't he pretty?

He FREAKED out when I tried to take it off. You can't see his face, but he is screaming at decibels audible to dogs.

The only thing that cheered him up was coloring with his sister. While laying on the table. Nice.

He wanted to put the dress on again, and we were walking out the door to leave. I told him no, and this was his reaction.
Oh the price of having an older sister.

Boot Scootin Cuties

True Texans.
Thanks Memor!

*Tags were on until Dave saw them and they passed his approval. They did, and now Joshua wears them everywhere, he is obsessed with them. He wore them to Church today.

Fafa and Memor Come To Town!

Thank you Memor and Fafa for a really, really fun weekend. Last time Bruce was here the only places he went were Home Depot and Walmart (he helped us move here). We tried to show him more of Texas this time.
The Arboretum.

And of course no trip is complete without a visit to the fish place.

Happy Veterans Day

"Freedom has a taste to those that serve
that the protected will never know."
~ General George S. Patton

To all the veterans, thank you. A very special thank you to my all time favorite veterans; our grandpa's, and my college roommate and dear friend, MelissaHoney.

Halloween

Carving pumpkins.
Audrey was not exciting about putting her hand in the "yucky stuff".

After much bribery (thank you Memor for the new Tinkerbell movie) Audrey finally agreed to touch the "pumpkin burgers".

Joshua checking it out...

he didn't want to touch it either.

The endodontist-to-be was taking his job very seriously. Yay for dental tools to help carve pumpkins!

The pumpkin carving might not have been a big hit, but trick or treating was!

After getting our share of candy, we came home and had a candy picnic and watched the new Tinkerbell movie Audrey "earned". Our doorbell rang quite frequently and Audrey and Joshua LOVED running to answer the door and give out handfuls of candy. It was a perfect Halloween.

Halloween Eve

Memor and Fafa came into town for the festive weekend (more posts on that soon). We went to a great party at Mandy and Colby's on Halloween eve. Dave is a trophy, Memor is Tiger Lilly and Fafa is a pirate from Captain Hooks ship. They were so cute to go around the Tinkerbelle and Peter Pan theme. I was a fairy and my eyelashes were slightly out of control.
Fun party.

With fun people.

And great food.

With really, really cute kids.

It's a Jungle Out There!

Audrey's school Halloween party had a jungle theme, so here is our little cheetah.

"Rooaarrrrrrrrr". ????? Do cheetahs roar?

Seth and Joshua. These sweet boys were so great at the party.

Good friends, both the mommies and the daughters.

Trunk or Treating with Yellow Sweetness

This was our first time ever attending a trunk or treat. In San Francisco we didn't have much of a parking lot so we did it indoors. I must say, I love trunk or treats! We had a chili and cornbread cook off, and I am happy to report my cornbread won first place (for those interested, the recipe is on the bottom of this post).

Tinkerbelle had a ball running around...

and Peter Pan loved eating all the competition.

Audrey's favorite part of the night was passing out the candy.

It took Joshua awhile to grasp the concept of trunk or treating. He was happy to get one piece, eat it, repeat.

Happy Halloween from Tinkerbelle, Peter Pan, a fairy and Dave!

You had to name your cornbread before you could enter it, and my friend Lisa named it, "Yellow Sweetness". Here is the award winning (literally, a ward voted and it won) yellow sweetness recipe:

Cornbread
Dry ingredients:
3 cups Bisquick
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cornmeal
3/4 tsp baking powder

Wet ingredients:
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
2 sticks melted butter

Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, then mix together. Bake in 9x13 pan at 325 degrees for about 33 min or until knife comes out clean. Do not overcook. My favorite type of recipe: easy and delicious. Enjoy!

I always have to give credit to where I got my recipes. When I was teaching fifth grade we did a section on Pilgrims. We had a Pilgrim Day where everyone came dressed up and we churned butter, yada yada yada. One of the parents brought in this cornbread and after tasting it, I knew my Marie Calendars cornbread days were o.v.e.r.

Halloween Sneak Peak

Can't. Wait.
