This was our first time ever attending a trunk or treat. In San Francisco we didn't have much of a parking lot so we did it indoors. I must say, I love trunk or treats! We had a chili and cornbread cook off, and I am happy to report my cornbread won
first place (for those interested, the recipe is on the bottom of this post).
Tinkerbelle had a ball running around...
and Peter Pan loved eating all the competition.
Audrey's favorite part of the night was passing out the candy.
It took Joshua awhile to grasp the concept of trunk or treating. He was happy to get one piece, eat it, repeat.
Happy Halloween from Tinkerbelle, Peter Pan, a fairy and Dave!
You had to name your cornbread before you could enter it, and my friend Lisa named it, "Yellow Sweetness". Here is the award winning (literally, a ward voted and it won) yellow sweetness recipe:
Cornbread
Dry ingredients:
3 cups Bisquick
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cornmeal
3/4 tsp baking powder
Wet ingredients:
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
2 sticks melted butter
Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, then mix together. Bake in 9x13 pan at 325 degrees for about 33 min or until knife comes out clean. Do not overcook. My favorite type of recipe: easy and delicious. Enjoy!
I always have to give credit to where I got my recipes. When I was teaching fifth grade we did a section on Pilgrims. We had a Pilgrim Day where everyone came dressed up and we churned butter, yada yada yada. One of the parents brought in this cornbread and after tasting it, I knew my Marie Calendars cornbread days were o.v.e.r.
