Jason and Kristina

I love it when visitors come, and we couldn't move away from San Francisco without Jason and Kristina coming back for one more visit. They have come before, we went on our cruise with them, and we love every chance we get to hang out.

They came Memorial Day weekend, and my in-laws came and got the kids for two days (thank you, thank you,) so we played and ate, ate, ate our way through San Francisco.

We tried to go to Mama's on Saturday morning but the line was at least two hours long so we left. Even though Jason and I are cousins, we are worlds apart when it comes to our animal feelings. While I detest birds, Jason pinked up a piece of moldy bread he found on the ground to feed his new friends. I took this picture from inside the car and I was still freaked out.

We went to La Boulange for a pastry for breakfast and then walked right across the street for a Peruvian lunch at Fresca.

We needed some sugar so we went to Sausalito and ate tons of candy at this great place and then walked around Sausalito for awhile. There are lots of cute little shops and even though we missed our kids, it was very relaxing just being able to walk around!

Poor Jason had knee surgery the week before they came and he had just transitioned from his crutches to a cane. Most of the time he pulled a President Hinckley and just carried it around though.

On the way home we stopped at the Marin Headlands,

and the Legion of Honor.

That night we went to Alioto's for dinner,

and then walked around Haight St.

Jason is an amazing skier and he found the one and only ski shop in San Francisco. It is pretty random to have a ski shop hours away from any skiing.

Virtual bowling was next,

followed by some Hot Cookie in the Castro. Great day.

Sunday morning we got up early with every intention to the be the first people at Mama's so we could eat and go right to church. Apparently lots of people had that idea because even getting there at 7:59 am, the line was still over an hour long.
Silas has become a friend to us over the last six years eating at Mama's. I don't think Dave has ever ordered anything besides the Monte Cristo, and I only have once. It is that good.

We took naps, went to East Bay to pick up our kids while Jason and Kristina went to see Wicked, and then met up for more food.
I have only tried sushi at places that shouldn't be serving sushi (buffets in Las Vegas) so I didn't think I liked it. Seeing as I don't think sushi will get better than San Francisco sushi, I figured I should try some while being a resident here. I ate not one, but two pieces and I didn't think it was that bad. After I ate the second piece, Jason told me this wasn't even a "beginner sushi"...it had eel and eel sauce in it. Glad I didn't know that before.
Umami. Yummy.

We finished up the night with some Mitchell's ice cream.

On Memorial Day, we went the Presidio Parade (that's a whole different blog post), and then back to La Boulange for a pastry,

then walked across the street,

to Pizzeria Delfina.

No trip to San Francisco is complete without going down steep hills (and pretending you are on a roller coaster to make Audrey happy),

lounging in front of chartreuse walls,

shopping at Fisherman's Warf (we bought matching Christmas ornaments)

and of course Ghirardelli chocolate all over your face.

Thanks for coming Jason and Kristina. You made our time in San Francisco complete.

Since the first time they came to visit was pre-blogging days, I thought I would put some pictures from that trip up. February 2004.
