Sisters Weekend

Five sisters. Los Angeles. No kids (thanks Mom). Lots of food, talking, laughing, memory making. Best time ever.

On Friday night, Melissa, Rachel, Jessica and I drove down to LA, where Sara lives. We stayed up late talking and eating yummy chocolate cake.

Saturday morning we slept in and then hiked to the Hollywood sign.

We decided to be adventurous and sneak down to touch the Hollywood sign.

Rachel made it down first and once she touched the front of the letters, a siren went off so we had to scramble up the hill as fast as we could to avoid the arrest and $103 fine.

We went to the best farmers market and had a really yummy lunch (Melissa's was quite spicy...hence the picture).

We laid by the pool,

sat around the fire (Jessica threw some, haha),

then got all cleaned up (five minute showers each, with one shower and five girls we needed a time limit if we were ever going to get out the door) and went out to dinner.

Melissa loves the rigatoni D from Maggianos...

ALOT.

We ended the night with a trip to see the stars. Perfect day.

Sunday morning (Mother's Day-I was sad to be away from my kids on Mother's Day, but if I had to be gone, I would want to be here) we got ready and went to church,

and then to the beach,

where we talked,

and had so much fun (and made fools of ourselves) trying to relive our cheerleading days.

Jessica is the only sister that wasn't a cheerleader/dancer. She was the soccer and volleyball star. We thought she needed a little lesson on the proper way to do jumps...

Good job Jess!

We relived some of our gymnastics days as well.

I haven't done an ariel (cartwheel with no hands) in probably six years, but I was able to pull it off. I'm not gonna lie, my hip hurt for the rest of the day...it stinks getting old!

EARLY Monday morning we stood in line to get our The Price is Right tickets. After a long day of waiting, reading magazines and talking, it was finally time to start the show. We went crazy- nay, that word puts it too mildly- we went ballistic when we heard the announcer say, "Jessica, come on down! You're the next contestant on the Price is Right!" I can't even remember the next 30 seconds of my life; all I know is when I finally snapped back to reality, my throat hurt from screaming so much. It was so fun to see Jess up on contestant’s row. She was the very last person they called up, so she only had one shot to win, and she had to bid first, so she didn't win, but she did get a cell phone and a floor lamp (random, I know) for being called up. It was so.much.fun.

We made matching tee shirts to show our sisterhood. We had someone ask us if we were sisters or "sistas". Haha.

I was obsessed with the name tags. I grew up watching the show, and I couldn't believe I had a tag with my name on it!

Thank you Sister #1, Sister #3, Sister #4 and Sister #5 for one of the best weekends of my life. A special thanks to my mom for watching the grandbabies so it could happen.
It is rare to have so many sisters, and even more rare to have them all be best friends.

For your entertainment

After this,(that explains the paint on her face) Audrey and I had a fun date at the mall. We went into Forever 21 and Audrey was lovin the music, and I was lovin her. So glad I had my camera! I let her get a gumball out of one of those big gumball machines ("Mom! The money turned into candy!!") and she loved chomping on it (obviously).

Our mission, the Mission

Ever since I took the photography class in the Mission district, I have been obsessed with the Mission. It is a part of San Francisco that I have never really explored. Our great friends Tyler and Joelle came up from Palo Alto and we had a, "Our mission, the Mission" dinner night. We had appetizers, dinner and dessert all at different places. It was a fun night, and since then, baby Ella was born!

Appetizers at Frjtz Fries. Fabulous ambiance.

Pizza dinner at Pizzeria Delfina. I don't usually love pizza, but I loved.this.stuff. We have gone back two more times since then. So, so, so good.

Dessert at Mitchells ice cream. Super long line, super fun people watching (check out the lady next to us), super yummy ice cream. Dave got baby coconut and I had peach and chocolate. There are so many flavors, it is hard to choose.

And then, just as I thought our experience in he Mission had been relatively calm, I see this:
A guy walking down the street wearing only flip flops and a beanie. The picture is blurry from me tyring to be sneaky and hurry and take a picture, and I thought my timing was perfect! His hand covers his unmentionables which makes the picture blog appropriate. He proceeds to walk into the "Hot Cookie" shop-very appropriate. He topped off our night perfectly.
Mission, completed.

Mr. and Mrs.

They did it! One beautiful bride, plus one handsome groom, plus lots of family and friends equals one fabulous day. Despite the pouring rain, this was a perfect day.

Welcome to our family Carrie, you fit in perfectly.

Kelli, our favorite photographer, took their wedding pictures. Click here to see a sneak peak.

Day with the Danes

Dave's mom was born in Denmark, and she still has quite a bit of family there. Marianne's Aunt Jyette came to LA to visit her son and his family, and they were kind enough to come up to the Bay Area so we could see them all as well. It was a great day of playing bocce ball, eating yummy food, talking and just being together.

I stole this picture of Kristin's blog, and the quality isn't good enough to make it big. Arg.
