Happy Halloween!

My Superhero's and a "random cow" as someone said.
The kids loved trick or treating and Joshua asked every single house, "Hey, you have a cat or a dog?" Turns out there is only one other house in our neighborhood besides ours that doesn't have any pets.
We had our kids work on their manners by looking everyone in the eyes and saying, "Thank you!" At one house it was just a basket of candy since the owners weren't home and Joshua was running down the driveway and turned back around to yell, "Thank you!" But then he looked at the basket and just said, "Than- oops! I almost said thank you to a basket!" It was cute memory I don't want to forget.
My sweet little cow's first Halloween!
After we got all the loot we could carry, we came home and facetimed with Memor and Fafa.  Fun night.

Dinner by Audrey

10.27.11
Audrey decided she wanted to cook dinner one night. One the menu:
personalized cups,
Lentil soup from Costco (Madras lentils, if you haven't tried them, you should.  Amazing.), toast with butter (or butter with a little bit of toast), and raspberries.
Dessert: Apples with cinnamon and sugar.
During dinner Audrey said, "This is nice." I asked her, "What's nice?" and she said, "Having Dad home for dinner."  Amen.  For most of Audrey's life, and all of Joshua's life, Dave was never around for dinner.  It's been a very nice change.

First Snow

After our cruise, Bruce and Marianne flew the kids back to us. Thank you! It was nice to have them see our new area, and spend more time with them.
On Oct 26, we had our first snow. The kids loved loved loved playing in the snow!

A little hot chocolate to warm up afterwards.

The Rest of the Cruise- The Saints

Dave and I are so grateful that we have parents who are able-and WILLING- to watch our kids so we can go on trips like this. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dad and Mom, & Bruce and Marianne. You guys are SAINTS! :)

St. John
We got a taxi to take us to a pretty beach. Our taxi driver knew everyone in town and honked and waved his way through. Once we got to the beach, we only had to move once from all the people trying to sell us stuff. Other than that, it was a great day of laying in the sun (it's snowing here as I'm typing this...sunshine sounds so good right now!), snorkeling and going on a little walk/hike. That was the most exercise we got since the first day in the gym. That night we went back to the dining room where they had all the servers do a little dance for us, and of course we joined in! That night (I think) we went to the movie theater on board and watched a movie. Fun day.

St. Maarten
We were on the Dutch side of the island and it was really pretty. Dave and I went SCUBA diving. We took a little boat to what felt like was the middle of the ocean. I was so sea sick because the water was so rough. Again, I am SO glad it wasn't like that in St. Lucia! We did two dives- on the first we saw a nurse shark under a reef, fish, lobster, blowfish, eels and sea turtles. The second dive was an old shipwreck from the 1800's. You could see all the old canons and canon balls laying around the old ship. Kinda cool, kinda creepy. I did my first "swim through" through a really long, tube looking thing on the ship. Again- kinda cool, kinda creepy.
After the dive, we walked around and did some shopping.  That night Dave and I were chosen to be the "in-between" couple for the "Love and Marriage" game (they had newlyweds, a couple that had been married for 50 years, and then us).  The audience got to pick what couple they wanted by cheering, so of course we won with Megan and Mandy's cheering skills.  It was fun to do, and even more fun to watch Dave do his "sexy dance".  Hilarious.
After the show we went to a different lounge area, where we played pool (and Dave spun Mandy so hard on a chair that she totally fell over). The table moved with the ship so it was always level. I learned that I am a terrible pool player.

St. Croix
We rented a car, and Colby was brave enough to drive it.  He told us to keep reminding him that they drove on the wrong side there. We had to make a pit stop to figure out where we were going (and a potty break) andI love the picture of Chris doing his Tarzan impression. Megan would make a great Jane!  :) We went to two beaches on the island and enjoyed our last day of sunshine and spending time together before we had to part ways the next day.
After our day in the sunshine, we boarded the ship, got some food and sat in the front of the ship while we headed back out to sea.  The major topic of conversation: baby #4 or no baby #4. The answer is still undecided for some of us, and very much decided for another!
That night, we started playing a game of hide and go seek, (the girls were "hiding" but the second our husbands heard the dance music they knew exactly where we would be!) but it turned into an awesome 70's dance party.  Complete with glowing rings, tons of balloons, and lots of afro wigs.
I sure love these people. I feel so blessed that we were able to spend these last two plus years together.  It's rare to find a friendship where everyone gets along so well with everyone, and we all like to do the same things- EAT, stay up late, and embarrass ourselves- and each other. I really feel like we were all supposed to live in Texas at the same time, so we could meet and form this friendship. The cruise was a great way to end that chapter of our lives, and I look forward to many more fun trips!

The next day, we left Puerto Rico and headed for our new home. Dave stared WORK the following day. Hooray!!!! Lots of things to celebrate, and celebrate we did. Work hard, play hard right?

St. Lucia

Back to the cruise. I get distracted and just need to finish!
Oct 12, 2011- St Lucia
This was probably our favorite day. The weather wasn't the best, but I'm glad we had something not "beachy" planned because sitting on the beach in the rain would be kinda a bummer. The six of us renting a catamaran to take us along the coast of St. Lucia, snorkeling and out to lunch. It was so fun, and St. Lucia was absolutely beautiful.

The pitons in the background.

The place where Jake and Vienna stayed on "The Bachelor".  $1,500 per night!!! Lucky camera men!

The snorkeling was amazing.  We saw lot of fish, barracuda, and jellyfish.
Us.

Chris and Megan.

Mandy and Colby.

More planking. Of course.

I love swimming in the rain.  Especially when it's not too cold. It rained pretty hard for a few minutes, then died down.

After we snorkeled we headed for lunch. Trying to keep warm.

Lunch! This little restaurant was featured on the Food Network.  I don't remember what I got, but I remember it being good.  Even though it was raining, look how calm the water is! I am so grateful it was calm water and none of us got sea sick! I loved the ambiance of the little restaurant...right on the water.

After lunch we went to a beautiful black sand beach.  It isn't accessible by land so we had to swim there.    I love the contrast of the green, black, then blue water.
Swimming in.

We all collected shells to bring home for our kids.

More planking.
We had a great day in St. Lucia!!!
That night we watched the sun set, learned lots about "things" (how the moon causes waves, is Mars liquid or gas?-or something like that--we learned a lot!), played games and enjoyed being together!

Happy Leap Year

I am disappointed in myself that I didn't take a picture on the last February 29th.
But four years ago I was hugely pregnant with Joshua. I had him 10 days later. On Feb 28, Audrey and I had a little dinner picnic by the Golden Gate Bridge. Dave was at school, of course.

On March 1, 2008, Regan, Jocelyn and I went to go get pedicures and manicures and then took Audrey and Maggie up to Napa for the day.

I don't have any pictures on Feb 29, but the day before and the day after will have to do!

Feb 29, 2012.  No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a good picture of all 3 of them.  Oh well, it's a very "real life" kinda shot.

Going up: mastered
Going down: not so much
