Easter

On Easter Sunday, we went to our church and then drove out to East Bay to spend the day with Dave's family.

We had a great day of cookie decorating,

quality family time,

egg finding,

candy eating,

and more candy eating.

The Easter egg hunt was fabulous. Not only were there treats in some of the eggs, there were also pictures of family members. When they got our picture, they would come to us, and we each told part of the story of Easter. It was a great way to keep the true meaning of Easter the central focus.

Another fun activity was a race of Eater activities for the "big kids". It involved finding eggs, "pictionary" with the little kids guessing, bean bag toss, and even a station where we ate a carrot and then had to say "I am a wascally wabbit" three times. I lost the race.

My sister in law Kristin, wins for best picture of the day...

Happy Easter!

Great day

Today was a great day. We went to meet Dave for lunch at school, and even though I had packed a lunch, they had free food at the school-yummy salad and asparagus. We came home and Audrey, Joshua and I all took snoozes. I let Audrey sleep in my bed with me, I love how she snuggles right in close. And then my most favorite thing happened, while we were sleeping, Dave came home. He joined us for the last few minutes of snoozing before the kids woke up, and then we all headed to Costco. After a successful shopping trip, complete with hot dogs and ice cream bars for dinner, we headed home feeling slightly queasy from all the food we inhaled. After putting the kids to bed, Dave and I watched an episode from our latest show, "Friday Night Lights". Then I left for a girls night at Rebecca's. Great, great, day.

Saturday

The day before Easter, I took the kids to my parent's house so they could go to the annual Easter egg hunt. I wasn't going to take them but then last week Audrey asked if we got to see the bunny at D's house like last year, so of course we went (her memory is amazing). Dave couldn't come because he was playing in the annual basketball tournament. The bunny did not disappoint and there was food, candy, games and crafts for everyone.

The kids with my beautiful mom.

I am so mad I cut my mom's face in half, but I love the look on Joshua's face.

Thanks, Mom. We had a great time.

We hurried and came back to San Francisco so we could watch Dave play in the championship game. They came in second, but that's okay, they were champions last year.

The beginning

Like any holiday, we celebrated Easter all week. This was the beginning of the mass chaos of eggs, candy and SUGAR!!! Last Tuesday (April 7th) I took the kids to see the Easter Bunny. Joshua obviously didn't like it at first, but then once he saw how calm Audrey was, he settled right down and enjoyed the big creepy bunny.

That night, we were getting ready to stuff the eggs for our playgroup Easter egg hunt on Wed (I forgot my camera, will someone please email me those pictures?)but all Joshua wanted to do was push the eggs all over the house.

Why aren't there more eggs in here to dump out? Major props to anyone that can tell me what we were watching on TV

Conference Sunday

I love General Conference. It is one of the two times a year were cinnamon rolls are a guarantee, watching church in pajamas is acceptable, and when I feel completely uplifted by our church leaders, especially our Prophet. My favorite line of conference this year was when President Monson said, "My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith." When so much of the world is focused on the bad and the mean, I love how President Monson reminds us to be happy. It was hard not to be happy listening to him while eating one of the cinnamon rolls Audrey and Dave made.

In between sessions, we went to the "secret park". I am dying that Joshua is wearing big boy shoes. What happened to my baby?! Although he wears the shoes, he is still not walking. He prefers his mom to have a freakishly strong left arm from carrying him everywhere.

The next conference post will be from Dallas!

Best little

I constantly tell Audrey that she is my best little friend (her Dad is my best big friend, and Joshua is my best baby friend). It melted my heart when the other day we were driving down the road and out of the blue she says to me, "You are my best little mom".
It is times like this when being a mom is the best job in the world.

Golden Gate Park Day

Last Friday, Addi, Nadine and I took the kids to the Japanese Tea Gardens. This is my favorite time of year to go, the blossoms are so beautiful and it smells heavenly. This was Joshua's first time to the gardens, and although he was strapped in the stroller for most of the time, he loved it. The kids enjoyed the new tradition of making a penny souvenir (Addi, I need that picture).

Pointing at the fish, he loved watching them in the water.
P.S. I know Joshua is wearing the same shirt as the chair climbing pictures. These were all taken on the same day. Thanks to my sister in law, I promise I have more clothes than just one shirt for my boy.

After the garden, Addi and I walked across the street to the Academy of Sciences. Audrey never tires of that place, and I am so grateful Addi has a pass!

The albino crocodile is now there, and I don't know what I was expecting, but it was NOT this. It really, really grossed me out. I only took a picture so Dave could see how freaky it was, but here it is, on my blog. Isn't he gross looking? Yuck.

Joshua's new trick

Joshua's latest trick: the art of chair climbing

Uh, oh. Foot stuck.

Unstuck.

He did it! He is so proud of himself.

Audrey is one proud big sister, and I am one proud mom.

High five.

If you look closely at Joshua's forehead, there is a red bump from an unsucessful attempt at the chair climbing. Don't mind the Hello Kitty bandaid on his knee, he got a splinter at the park and nurse Audrey wanted to help.

I love these two.
